Our Rising Stars are on the journey to becoming school ready. The children range from 3-years old up to 4-years old. 

From the summer term, the children access the RWI Phonics scheme focused on nursery practice and begin to learn their sounds and letter recognition. This is done using the fun RWI letter songs and representations.

The Rising Stars room promotes independence and all the skills necessary for a smooth transition into Reception in September. This can include: independent personal hygiene such as toileting, handwashing and when and how to use tissues to catch germs or clean themselves. Other skills that support their transition include recognising their name, marking making with a tripod grip, counting to 10 and number recognition.

Understanding the world is a huge part of the EYFS curriculum, and an area most enjoyed by our young, curious minds. We are lucky to have access to a wooded area where the children can explore during Welly Walks. Our outdoor play areas allow children to learn road safety on our bike track and investigate what happens in the water area, mud kitchen, covered sandpit and climbing wall and frames.
